Studio Encaustic Classes
Join me in my home studio to learn how to paint with beeswax (Encaustic Art). I’ll provide all the supplies-you bring your creative spirit.
You can find the class you are interested in under workshops on the website. Please make sure your email is included with your order so I can contact you with further details.
Please bring an apron and shoes to wear in the studio.
Other dates and classes to be announced or upon request if you and up to 2 friends want to play with wax. Just email to discuss.

CLASSES
PLAYING WITH
WAX AND FIRE
This is a beginner encaustic class. 3 students max.
All supplies included - bring some shoes and an apron to wear in the studio
You will learn basic encaustic skills: waxing, creating texture, use of torch and heat gun and other beginner techniques. Plus, you will learn what it takes to set up your own encaustic studio. You’ll go home with a finished encaustic painting created with your own hands.

MORE PLAYING WITH
WAX AND FIRE
This class is for those who have a basic knowledge of encaustic. 3 students max.
All supplies included - bring some shoes and an apron to wear in the studio
This class will develop your encaustic knowledge and techniques. We will go into combining other media with encaustic, accretion and texture techniques, incising and carving, charcoal/pastel transfer techniques and the use of alcohol inks and shellac burn. This class can be self guided as you may have a technique you want to learn and I will guide you through the process. You’ll go home with a finished encaustic painting created with your own hands.

PLAYING WITH
PHOTO-ENCAUSTIC
This Is a beginner class. No encaustic experience is necessary however it is also suitable for those who have some encaustic experience. We will go over the basic encaustic techniques as a refresher. 3 students max.

Photo encaustic is the process of applying encaustic medium over a photo image. There are many ways to do this and we will delve into them. You will email me two photos and I will prepare them so they are ready to be worked on when you come to class. I will show you the different methods of attaching the photo. We will enhance the photo with various media and/or encaustic techniques. You’ll go home with a finished encaustic painting created with your own hands.

SALVAGED MEMORIES - PLAYING WITH
COLLAGE AND WAX
This is suitable for beginners or experienced encaustic artists. 3 students max.
All supplies included - bring some shoes and an apron to wear in the studio
Collage is an art in itself. Adding a layer of wax further enhances the beauty of the art form. Using papers and other ephemera from my stash, we will explore the techniques of creating a collage. We will make some of our own papers to add to the work and explore various markmaking techniques to enhance the art. We will finish with a layer of encaustic medium and further enhance with other media such as pastel, Oilstick and gold leafing etc. You’ll go home with a finished encaustic painting created with your own hands.
